Jello Orange Slices

 

Jello Shots are both a hosts best friend and worst enemy.  Unfortunately, most Jello Shots cannot be sucked simply through a regular straw, contrary to popular belief.  The result of this is that most people end up using their fingers to free the jello from little cups which makes sticky messes everywhere, thereby destroying the hosts house, and the fingers of the guests.  It sucks.

This is why we at TCC have two alternatives to standard Jello cups, AS WELL AS the master Jello-shot maker’s secret to perfect Jello cups.  We are that awesome.

INGREDIENTS

• 1 – 3oz. Box of Jello (Any color)
• 1^1/4 – Cups of Water
• 3/4  –  Vodka or other 80 proof alcohol
• 3 Regular Oranges
• 1 very sharp knife

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Mix together 1/4 cup water with 3/4 cups alcohol and refrigerate for an hour
2. Cut each orange in half vertically so that the base and the stem  are not in the basin of the half
3. Gently scoop out the innards of the orange halves so that the Jello can be added
4. Boil 1 cup water and mix in gelatin until fully dissolved
5. Add the refrigerated alcohol and water mixture to the gelatin mixture
6. gently pour the jello mix into each of the orange halves and make sure they remain upright
7. Refrigerate the orange halves until the Jello is very FIRM
8. With a very sharp knife cut the Jello Oranges into slices.  A dull knife can cause the jello to rupture and results in a sticky mess.
9. VOILA….consume.
